REVELRY 2012
Although weeks have gone since the wicked gathering of the city’s crème de la crème, the exhilaration and force is still tangible, especially when reminiscing through the photos, Facebook posts and the occasional talk of this legendary night. Fishtank Productions and Incognito somehow survived Revelry, which means it’s time for a proper review of last weekend’s celebration. It was… bar none… the most elaborate and extravagant event that Davao’s party crowd has ever been to. The poolside of El Gato was pulsating with a crazy energy from the new clubbers to the seasoned raving veterans and everyone else in between. Whether it was dancing nonstop with your friends, trying to keep up with the free flowing premium drinks (which was a lot!), getting freaky with the neon paints or just standing in awe of the sexy trio, it was clear that revellers got what they came for.
The night kicked off with a set from Davao’s very own DJ Gary. As the night continued on, hundreds of attendees poured into the massive El Gato poolside, with 2 satellite bars, barbeque station (best pork barbeque ever!), body painting booth, VIP areas and more. We have spared no expense in creating a magical and first class experience, which was clear in every detail (and especially in the hours of work we’ve invested in the setup). After bouncing around from table to table, we have to give salute to the people who partied all night and those who jumped into the pool with or without their cellphones – please know that your mobile phone’s death was truly not in vain.
Regardless of what you were up to that night, it was hard to miss the presence of The Zombettes on stage, proving its thriving infiltration into the party scene. DJ Ornusa “Flex” Cadness started the trio’s set with Electro and Dance; progressing to DJ Mia “Miaow” Ayesa who brought the house down with her mix of Hip-Hop, Mash-Up and RnB; to finish the night off, DJ Sanya “SaNinja” Smith was on fire and got wild for her rock and roll set that lasted well into the wee hours. Aside from the camaraderie between the artists, the party was buzzing with energy and excitement (not to mention the booze), resulting in mass amounts of pool diving, booty shaking and offstage shenanigans.
To be honest, we’re surprised we can even remember that much after having been on our feet for almost 48 hours and our visions being completely a blur. Seeing hundreds of partyers with smiles on their faces definitely made the high cost of the night well worth it. As the event came to an end, we couldn’t help but feel like we had witnessed something spiritual, historical, you know, like the beginning of something significant. Okay… fine… it’s not that big of a deal to other people… but Revelry was definitely a moving and momentous experience for all of us that care.
Thank you Davao crowd for partying with us. Special thanks to San Miguel Brewery, Inc., Hennessy Cognac, Belvedere Vodka, Casa Leticia, Pops Resto, Dimsum Diner, Isuzu Davao, Phoenix Petroleum, Globe Telecom, Midtown Printing Co., Inc., Tsuru Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar, Hanoi Vietnamese Cuisine, Premiere Max, Quality Plaza Inn, Cellar de Oboza, New Orleans Café, Pressure Points Spa, Green Options, Pink and Gold Salon, Bloom Facial & Spa, TBR Concepts, Backyard Burgers, Aqua Minerals, Metro Card Club, G3 Purified Ice, Edge Davao, Mindanao Travel Channel and 105.9 Mix FM.
We’d like to give a shout-out to Mark Limbaga and his team who captured the party’s vibe in both photos and film. With well-timed edits, really mad shots and rad animation melded in throughout the video, it’s a cool recap that makes you want to party! We can’t wait to do it all again!
This has been a massive madness, amazingly immeasurable and hands down a memorable experience – this has been Revelry!
